£200 Typical post-production cost per recorded hour
The short answer

It depends on what you want to leave with.

There is a meaningful difference between paying for time in a podcast studio and paying for a completely finished podcast episode.

If you simply need a professional room, microphones, cameras, lighting and an experienced technician to manage the recording, you can book Podcast Studio Glasgow from £75 .

If you want to leave the studio and have somebody else manage the footage, organise the files, apply your requested edits, prepare the final audio and video and create short captioned clips, you also need to budget for post-production.

A useful starting budget: a one-hour, three-camera recording costs £120. Adding our typical £200 post-production service brings the expected total to £320.

What the studio fee covers

You are not just hiring an empty room.

Your booking includes the studio environment and the equipment needed to record professional audio and video. We prepare the microphones, cameras, lighting and recording system before you begin, then manage the technical side while you concentrate on the conversation.

With video sessions, the camera angles are switched live as the conversation happens. We can also capture isolated camera recordings, usually called ISO files. These provide additional flexibility if the episode needs to be reworked later. You can read our plain-English guide to what ISO recording means and why it matters .

If you are unsure whether you need one camera or several, our guide to single-camera and multi-camera podcast recording explains the practical difference.

Studio hire gives you professionally captured files. It does not automatically include detailed editing, removing sections, social clips or producing a final revised episode unless post-production has been agreed.

Post-production

What does a finished podcast cost?

Our typical post-production cost is £200 per recorded hour, added to your studio hire fee. The charge is based on the duration of the material recorded, because a longer recording creates more footage and audio to organise, review, edit and export.

Typical cost: studio fee + £200 per recorded hour
File management The audio, video and isolated camera recordings are imported, organised and associated with the correct client project.
Client review You receive a private review page where you can watch the recording, read the transcript and identify the changes you require.
Professional editing We apply your agreed edits to the audio and video while preserving the natural rhythm of the conversation.
Audio and video polish We prepare balanced audio and a polished final video suitable for publication.
Up to five social clips Short, subtitled video clips can be created from the moments you select during the review process.
Final delivery Your completed audio, video and social assets are organised and supplied through an agreed secure delivery method.
Our production framework

What happens after the microphones stop?

Post-production is not simply opening a video file and cutting out a few mistakes. A reliable process protects the recordings, makes the client’s instructions clear and ensures the editor is always working from the correct material.

01

Record and organise

The audio and video are captured, imported and placed into a consistently named client project.

02

Prepare the review

A viewing copy and time-coded transcript are prepared. The client receives a private review page for entering edits and choosing social clips.

03

Client instructions

The client marks phrases or sections to remove, identifies any replacement material and supplies the timestamps for social clips.

04

Edit and check

The editor receives a structured list of requested changes. Edit markers can be carried into the Final Cut Pro project to reduce ambiguity and keep the work accountable.

05

Create the finished content

We export the polished episode and create up to five short, subtitled social videos from the client’s selected moments.

06

Deliver and track

Final files are organised and delivered securely. The client can also follow the project’s progress from review through to completion.

Choosing the right level

Do you need post-production?

Not every client needs us to edit their podcast. Some organisations have their own editor or internal content team and simply need reliable, professionally recorded source files.

Studio hire may be enough if:

  • You have your own experienced audio or video editor.
  • Your team is comfortable organising large media files.
  • You already have an established review and approval process.
  • You can create and subtitle your own social clips.

Post-production is likely to be worthwhile if:

  • You want a finished episode rather than a collection of source files.
  • You do not want editing to become another internal task.
  • Several people need to review or approve the content.
  • You want social clips prepared from the same recording.
  • You want a clear, trackable route from recording to delivery.

The real value is not simply saving editing time. It is removing the production bottleneck that can leave a good recording sitting unpublished on a hard drive.

Common questions

Podcast production pricing FAQs.

Is editing included in the studio booking fee?

Detailed editing is not included unless post-production has been agreed. The studio fee covers the booked recording session, equipment and technical management. Post-production is normally charged separately.

How is the post-production price calculated?

Our typical price is £200 per recorded hour. This is added to the studio booking fee. A longer recording creates more audio and video to organise, review, edit and export.

What do I receive after post-production?

You receive polished final audio and video files, plus up to five short subtitled social clips where these form part of the agreed project.

Can I choose the sections used for social clips?

Yes. Our client review page allows you to provide the start and end times for the moments you would like turned into short videos.

Can I record several episodes in one session?

Yes. Longer bookings can be used to record several episodes or pieces of content. Each recording is organised as a separate project, and post-production is calculated using the total recorded duration.

Can a remote guest join the recording?

Yes. Remote participants can join using Riverside while the host records in the studio. Find out more about remote podcast recording in Glasgow .

Are there any optional studio extras?

An autocue is available for £25 for the duration of a suitable booking. It is particularly useful for scripted direct-to-camera videos and prepared introductions.
