Scottish Podcast Awards 2026: PSG Clients Win and Receive Recognition

Scotland finally stood up: reflections on the first Scottish Podcast Awards

For too long, the Scottish podcast community has perhaps had an air of coolness about it.

Maybe there has been an unwillingness to collaborate. Maybe a reluctance to celebrate each other. Maybe, in that very Scottish way, we have been slow to recognise what this country brings to a medium that is now loved globally.

But on a balmy night in Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket, Scotland finally stood up and stated, unequivocally, that this country is punching above its weight.

On 25 June 2026, the inaugural Scottish Podcast Awards took place in a packed, iconic Glasgow venue. The room was full of Scottish podcasters, from state broadcaster-backed productions to independent passion projects, first-time creators, established hosts, producers, editors, guests and supporters. ‍

The worlds of football, comedy, health and wellbeing, relationships, culture, charity, business and storytelling were all showcased, recognised and awarded.

And the feeling in the room was clear: Scottish podcasting is no longer something happening quietly in the background. It is a serious creative force.

A night that could have gone wrong, but didn’t

Lots of things can go wrong with events like this.

There could have been the usual Scottish cynicism about accepting praise from strangers. There could have been a sense of jealousy about seeing peers, collaborators or even rivals receive plaudits. With 24 categories to announce, the night could easily have dragged.

It didn’t. ‍

What we saw instead was the hard work of Scot and Corrine, the team behind Sixty Steps Productions, doing exactly what they had hoped the event would do: uniting the community of Scottish podcasters.

The night felt generous. It felt warm. It felt overdue.

It also felt important.

Podcasting can be a lonely medium. So many shows are built in spare bedrooms, small studios, offices, kitchens, meeting rooms and late-night editing sessions. The audience hears the finished episode, but rarely sees the graft behind it.

The Scottish Podcast Awards gave that graft a stage.

A proud night for Podcast Studio Glasgow clients

For us at Podcast Studio Glasgow, it was wonderful to hear so many of our clients mentioned from the stage as shortlist nominees.

Earlier this year, we wrote about how our clients were all over the Scottish Podcast Awards 2026 shortlist. Seven Podcast Studio Glasgow client podcasts received ten nominations across categories, including comedy, video, sport, charity, culture, business, health, wellbeing and more. ‍

You can read that original shortlist post here:

The shortlisted client shows included:

  • The Ford & Shelby Show

  • Risking It All

  • Let Them Eat Books

  • Check One Two

  • Beyond The Baller

  • The Canmore Trust Podcast

  • Men Only

That alone would have made it a brilliant night for the studio.

But it got better.

Winners and Highly Recommended shows

Three Podcast Studio Glasgow client shows received recognition on the night, and one of them had an especially huge evening. ‍

The Ford & Shelby Show won:

  • Best Comedy

  • Podcast of the Year

That is an extraordinary achievement for any podcast, and a huge moment for a Scottish independent show.

Let Them Eat Books was Highly Recommended.

The Canmore Trust Podcast was also Highly Recommended.

And a podcast we sponsor, Keeping It Real, was Highly Recommended too.

So yes, we were delighted. And yes, we were hollering as loudly as anyone else when those names were announced.

We don’t take the credit, but we do celebrate it

As we have said before, we take no personal credit as a podcast studio for our clients’ success.

The ideas are theirs. The voices are theirs. The preparation, chemistry, commitment and courage are theirs.

We provide the space. We provide the cameras, microphones, lighting and production support. We try to create an environment where people can relax, focus and make something that looks and sounds professional.

But the success belongs to the creators.

That doesn’t mean we are detached from it.

When a client is shortlisted, we feel proud. When a client is recognised, we feel it. When a client wins Podcast of the Year, of course we celebrate.

Because every podcast that does well in Scotland helps prove something bigger: that this country has talent, ideas and voices that deserve to be heard.

Scottish podcasting feels different now

The first Scottish Podcast Awards felt like a line in the sand.

Before it, Scottish podcasting sometimes felt fragmented. Brilliant work was being made, but not always seen in the same room. Independent creators were doing great things, but often without the wider industry recognition that other creative sectors already enjoy.

Last night changed that.

It brought people together. It gave the sector a focal point. It showed the range of what Scottish podcasting can be.

There were polished productions, funny shows, emotional stories, serious conversations, campaigning podcasts, community projects and pure entertainment. There were people making podcasts as part of their jobs, and people making them because they simply had something to say.

That mix is what makes podcasting powerful.

It is open enough for anyone to start, but demanding enough that the best shows still need craft, consistency and care.

Hopefully the first of many

We hope the 2026 Scottish Podcast Awards was the first of many.

We hope the team at Sixty Steps Productions continue to build the event. We hope the partnership with Spotify continues. We hope more podcasters enter next year. We hope more organisations, brands, charities, campaigners and independent creators recognise the power of the medium.

Most of all, we hope Scottish podcasters keep showing up for each other.

Because last night proved something simple: when the Scottish podcast community comes together, it has a lot to celebrate.

Congratulations to all nominees and winners

Huge congratulations to every nominee, every Highly Recommended show and every winner.

Putting a podcast into the world takes more work than most people realise. Being recognised for that work matters.

And to anyone who was in the room last night and is now thinking about how to push their podcast production forward, we are here for you.

Whether you are starting from scratch, moving from audio only to video, improving your recording quality, or looking for a professional Glasgow podcast studio to help your show look and sound the part, we would love to help.
